Dr. Seuss' Belated Birthday Celebration

Theodor Geisel was his given name.
Being Dr. Seuss brought him great fame.....

In honor of Dr. Seuss and his lessons, wit and literary contributions, the Middle School ELP students will be sharing revised versions of some of Dr. Seuss' best loved children's book.  The students created or adapted versions of  Reader's Theaters and will be sharing at the MV Elementary on Thursday, March 13th.

Our objectives have been oral fluency, phrasing and prosodic elements (pitch, tone, inflection).  While Dr. Seuss may seem a bit "young" for Middle School students, we are learning his use of rhyming, alliteration and non-sense words can make for some tricky articulation.

We began our lesson with a choral reading of "Fox in Socks"-----not as easy as it sounds.  Give it a try, if you don't believe us : )

Please check the blog later in the week for photos and short video clips of our readers.  You can also find tid-bits on the Missouri Valley Schools facebook page.
